It Still Lives
June of 2005

you tried to kill my amaranth
with your picric acid,
but the garnet color,
was illuminated at midnight,
and you saw it was untouchable --


and then it let out a caw of dolor
for it felt like a gamin, a gamin
who needed to unclench,
but could not expel to do so, it could not, no matter how hard it tried


and i still don't know why? why did you try to
kill my amaranth? it had done  
no wrong to you.

it petrified when you said petrify
it languished when you said languish

and it only did this for you love,
your touch, you kiss

why did you try to kill it?


it needs you like the electric lighting
needs it's booming thunder

it needs you, like i need it


and you pierced it like a kestrel

a kestrel preying on a poetaster

for the poetaster cannot help her
flaws, so she just becomes a
dollop

and will only unclasp from her
own embrace to dodge the
blows of life

because all she knows how to
do is paginate and mimic her
peers like I mimic my amaranth


so don't deduce my
         amaranth

it reeks of nothing but you

...but we all know...
                 it still lives
